First of all, Rick, welcome to Talk for Food. It’s been a pleasure to meet you and more than a pleasure to be in person to be with you.
Yeah it’s been fun out here. Nice to meet you. It’s actually a combination of out of the blue phone call to my company from you and here you are we are doing the interview, a documentary interview that’s a lot of fun so far. Yeah.
Yeah. So I’m fairly new to salt lamps and what they can do but what I have learned is absolutely amazing and I don’t really think the public is very aware of its properties. So, just to start off let’s talk a little about what drew you into this. What got you interested in salt lamps? What caught your imagination?
Well, my imagination was peaked several years ago, I was laid off from my full time corporate job. I owned the company spiritual quest, and I ahd a few products of my own and I would do some local trade shows and I started to n0ptice the salt lamps at those trade shows. I noticed that they were beautiful, captivating, interesting, I didn’t know what they were. Very shortly, thereafter, one of the companies that was selling my products, the om candle holder, and the projection candle holder line which is still available was selling the products in Vegas, they asked me to attend their trade show and help them sell my products for them. Well, one of the things that they were selling in large amounts was the Himalayan salt lamps at their booth and that’s really where I began to understand that one it’s a very strong visual attraction, we didn’t know the science, we didn’t know the chemical make up for the product at the time or what it would become in my life. But, I did know I was interested in them. Now, what I noticed was droves of people at Vegas spa show were buying salt lamps form this gentleman. So, it’s really how I began to get involved.
It got your attention right there.
It’s kind of a magical moment, yeah.
You took it beyond just simply being a distributor, I mean you really learned about distribution and everything and got into that.
Distribution was something that we had already done with our other products. Manufacturing overseas, importing, warehousing. So, it was very easy for me to get involved and to get involved in a large scale. That obstacle didn’t present itself for me at all. The most important aspect of our journey was finding a reputable dealer in that region that one could deliver the quality we are used to and the specific aspects of salt lamps that our customers look for. For example most companies look for the cheapest product they can find that is just plain lazy and we never wanted to go that route not for one minute that is why we are known for quality and service no one even comes close to our standards.
