When heating the salt plate, it is important to do it is a slow methodical manner heating the salt too fast can cause a natural cracking in the salt. Unfortunately, when using all natural items we do have to accept that nature is unpredictable. in order to avoid any rapid heat shock. We recommend using out salt plate on whatever heating surface be it an oven, grill or hot plate, its best to start from a room temp or slightly cool salt plate, then warm up your salt brick, plate or slab, slowly it will be well worth the effort Enjoy.
