Just like any other lamp, salt lamps in and of themselves carry no risk to your pets. However, if your pet is the curious type, they may lick the salt lamp and this can cause problems if they intake too much salt. Symptoms of salt poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea, seizures and lethargy. If you notice your pet is licking your salt lamp frequently, or if your pet exhibits any of the symptoms just listed, it’s best to move your salt lamp to somewhere inaccessible by your pet.
Yes. A salt lamp that is turned off is just a hunk of dull-colored salt rock. When turned on, the salt lamp transforms into a visual spectacular, with an inner glow that illuminates the color variations in the lamp. Additionally, heat is required to release negative ions from the salt. The inside light bulb is what generates this heat. Why would you ever turn a salt lamp off?
