Regardless of size, salt lamps are beautiful and peaceful to look at, but when it comes to make a distinctive statement, our larger salt lamps are the way to go. The first thing to consider is where to place your lamp. You want your salt lamp to be big enough so it’s not dwarfed by its surroundings. You want it to make a statement and stand out when turned on. For most standard size rooms, we recommend something in the Giant to Mountain size range (see chart above).
The second thing to consider is the size of the room where you salt lamp will go. To maximize the effect of the Himalayan salts negative ion wellness properties you’ll need to calculate the square footage of the room with the salt lamp. The natural ion output of a salt lamp is determined by its weight, not its size. Once you have the square footage of your room, simply divide it by 10 to determine the minimum weight for your salt lamp to operate at maximum efficiency. For a standard size bedroom (approximately 140 square feet) your salt lamp should be at least 14 pounds (our XL size Himalayan salt lamp.)
